The University of Valencia is divided into 18 faculties, the oldest of which is the Faculty of Economics. Newer faculties were introduced in the 1980's, the most recent addition in the Faculty of Social Sciences, established only in 1998.

Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports


The Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports was established on 24 November 1987, in the same year that the Consell of Valencian Generalitat D.O.G.V. núm. 508 was established on 19 January 1987. It sprang from the Valencian Institute of Educacio'n Fi'sica, which was assigned to the Conselleria de Cultura, Education and Science by virtue of the subscribed agreement between the university and the Valencian Generalitat. It began its full academic course in the school year 1987-88, with a total of 80 students. It is presently located in the Campus of Blasco Ibáñez.

Faculty of Biological Sciences


The Faculty of Biological Sciences was created on 19 September 1977 by ministerial order. The progressive increase of students and the transfer to its present campus at Burjassot caused the division of the old Faculty of Sciences into four faculties: the Faculty of Chemical Sciences, the Faculty of Physical Sciences, the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences.

Faculty of Social Sciences


The Faculty of Social Sciences was established by the Agreement of the Governing Body of the University of Valencia on 30 April, 1998. It offers courses in Social Work and Social Services as well as Sociology and Social Anthropology.

Faculty of Law


The Faculty of Law was established in 1499. It also established lessons on Leyes and Cánones in the same year. It offers degree programmes in Administrative and Procedural Law, Civil Law, Constitutional Law, Political Science and Administration, Financial Law and History of Law, International Law, Corporate Law 'Manuel Broseta Pont', Criminal Law, Roman Law and State Canon Law, Labour and Social Security Law, and Philosophy of Moral Law and Politics.


Faculty of Economics


The Faculty of Economics traces its origins in the former School of Trade. It was during the 18th century that the organised study of trade first began to be regulated. Business studies were created by the Royal Decree in September 1850 that led to the establishment of the Schools of Trade in Madrid, Barcelona, La Coruña, Málaga, Santander, Sevilla, and Valencia.

Faculty of Pharmacy


The Faculty of Pharmacy was founded on 10 November 1868 when the Delegation of Valencia accepted the creation of the Free Faculty of Pharmacy. It offers degree programmes in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology; Pharmacology; Preventive Medicine, Public Health, Bromatology, Toxicology and Legal Medicine; and Parasitology and Cellular Biology.

Faculty of Foreign and Classical Languages


The Faculty of Foreign and Classical Languages offers various international language and philosophy courses such as German Philosophy, Catalan Philosophy, Classic Philosophy, French Philosophy, Hispanic Philosophy, Italian Philosophy, English Philosophy, Audio-visual Communication and Journalism.

Faculty of Education Sciences


The Faculty of Education Sciences was borne out of the faculty of Philosophy and Letters. It has a total of seven departments including Logic and Philosophy of Science, Metaphysics and Theory of Knowledge, Research Methods and Diagnostics in Education and Theory of Education.

Faculty of Physics


The Faculty of Physics was created on 19 September 1977, and it was formerly the Faculty of Physical Sciences. It offers degree programmes in Applied Physics; Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics, Theoretical Physics, Optics and Thermodynamics.

Faculty of Physiotherapy


The University School of Physiotherapy is located near the Blasco Ibañez campus where the Faculty of Medicine and Odontology and the School of Infirmary are located.

Faculty of Geography and History


The Faculty of Geography and History is well-known for developing professional aptitudes and for providing the guidelines for the cultural and civic development of the society. It offers degree programmes in Geography, Ancient History and Written Culture, History of Art, Contemporary History, Medieval History, Modern History, and Prehistory and Archaeology.

Faculty of Nursing


The Faculty of Nursing constitutes a committee that abides by and guards the process of accreditation required by the European Union.

Faculty of Teaching Ausias Marc


The Faculty of Teaching Ausias Marc coordinates student exchange programs with countries like Norway, Sweden, France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria and Denmark.

Faculty of Mathematics


The Faculty of Mathematics was founded in September 1977. It offers degree programmes in Algebra, Mathematical Analysis, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Statistics and Operations Research, Geometry and Topology, and Applied Mathematics.

Faculty of Medicine and Odontology


The Faculty of Medicine and Odontology offers degree programmes in Anatomy and Human Embryology, Surgery, Stomatology, Physiology, History of Science and Documentation, Medicine, Pathology, and Paediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology. It aims to organise, coordinate and supervise teaching; promote cultural activities and university extension; serve as a vehicle for participation in the government; and to administer the budgetary allocation of the Center and to control its own services.

Faculty of Psychology


The Faculty of Psychology was created by Real Decree in 28 September 1983. It offers five-year degree programmes with an elective load of 302 credits. Some of the degree programmes it offers are Methodology of Behavioural Sciences; Personality, Psychological Evaluation, and Treatments; and Basic Psychology.

Faculty of Chemistry


The Faculty of Chemistry was created in 19 September 1977 by a Ministerial order. It offers degree programmes in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.

Technical School of Engineering


The Technical School of Engineering is a new addition to the university. It was established on 23 September 2003 with the authorisation of the Consell of the Generalitat, as published in the DOGV. It is comprised of the departments of Computer Science, Electronic Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
